Amy Hanaiali�i Gilliom to give three concerts during Hawai�i�s China Trade Mission

Seattle, WA-- Amy Hanaiali�i Gilliom will give three concerts in China in collaboration with the Polynesian Cultural Center on Friday, June 10th at The Lake at Xintiandi in Shanghai, Monday, June 12th at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and Wednesday, June 15th at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Concert Hall in Guangzhou, China. The Beijing and Guangzhou shows in will include special performances by Grammy-award winning Slack-key artist Bryan Kessler. The Guangzhou show, which will commemorate the 20-year sister state relationship with the Guangdong Province; will include performances by local Chinese musicians. In addition, the concert in Guangzhou will be filmed for an upcoming DVD to be released later this year by Hawaiian film company, Na Pali Films. The shows will be produced by entertainment company, WorldSound, LLC, in collaboration with the Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) and will support the Hawaii China/Korea business mission to be led by Hawaii governor, Linda Lingle. Amy Hanaiali�i Gilliom�s band includes Hawaiian guitarist Chino Montero and bassist Jack Ofoia, with well known Hawaiian hula dancer, Jackie Booth. The Polynesian Cultural Center musicians, dancers and performers will include noted Kumu Hula Ellen Gay Dela Rosa. This incredible performance will be one full hour, showcasing traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music and Hula. In addition, the PCC will be showcasing the music, dance and culture of some of the other Polynesian Islands that Hawaiian culture originated from.
Amy Hanaiali�i Gilliom is one of Hawai�i 's shining stars, who has won the hearts of many with the resurrection of Ha`i (female falsetto singing). Amy has been classically trained with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater and is passionate about Jazz and R&B. Combining these artistic styles make her a fluently diverse entertainer. A multi-Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, her last five albums have won her Song of Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Hawaiian Album of the Year and Group of the Year. Amy was also the first Hawaiian female ever to be nominated for a Grammy. Amy is the granddaughter of Jennie Napua Woodd, whose many credits include being the choreographer on all of the major Hawaiian motion pictures in the 1930's and 40's while in New York City, Hollywood and Las Vegas.
The Polynesian Cultural Center is dedicated to helping to preserve and perpetuate the cultural heritage of Polynesia. Located on the scenic North Shore of Oahu, the Polynesian Cultural Center features seven Polynesian islands in a
beautifully landscaped, 42-acre setting representing Fiji, Hawai'i, Maori New Zealand, the Marquesas, Samoa, Tahiti, and
Tonga. The PCC is Hawaii's #1 paid attraction, accommodating over 30 million visitors since its opening in 1963.
The concerts are part of a 10-day trade mission to China and Korea, organized by the State of Hawai�i, which will expand Hawaii�s business, educational, and cultural opportunities. The mission will focus on six primary tracks: business, education, tourism, architectural and tourism development services, technology and culture and the arts. The trip will take place June 8- June 19. Hawaii governor, Linda Lingle will spend two days each in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, and three in Seoul, Korea, during which she will meet with national and local government officials, university officials, and a variety of business leaders from China�s and Korea�s emerging markets.
